The story of “words and people” needs to be rewritten. Based on material from the new book Cultural Keywords in Discourse (Levisen and Waters 2017), and synthesizing insights from cultural semantics, linguistic anthropology and postcolonial language studies, this talk discusses the centrality of words in human life.

Contours for a new theory called Lexical Anthropology will be presented, along with case studies in cultural keywords and discourse cultures.

Friday September 8, 2017 13-15. Room 1481 - 341, Nobelparken, Jens Chr. Skous Vej. All welcome. Coffee and cakes.
